“ART HAS HAD AN AMBIVALENT RELATIONSHIP WITH PLASTIC SURGERY FOR DECADES, IN PART BECAUSE ART HAS AN AMBIVALENT RELATIONSHIP WITH BEAUTY.”
Body image includes thoughts and emotions that are influenced by development, perception, and sociocultural factors. Modern beauty standards create enormous pressure to conform to ideals, thus causing insecurities through their influence on self-perception and body image. Social media makes it increasingly difficult to protect mental health by "blurring the line between reality and fantasy" and causing people to become fixated on imaginary flaws in their appearance. In modern society, plastic surgery has a large worldwide audience. Cosmetic surgery plays perhaps the most important role in modern man's narcissistic obsession with perfection and eternal youth.
